Luella Wall Mirror by Sika-Design

The Luella mirror was designed by Franco Albini and Franca Helg and was originally manufactured in Italy in the 1950s. The combination of rattan and the curved geometric pattern makes the Luella mirror both decorative and functional. The Italian duo Franco Albini and Franca Helg were renowned architects who reached the height of their careers in the 1950s and created a wide range of famous furniture designs, as well as architectural works and real estate projects.

The Luella mirror is part of Sika-Design’s ICONS collection, which features designer furniture by some of the world’s most prominent designers and architects. This includes both contemporary and classic iconic designers and architects. When acquiring the rights to classic, iconic pieces, we work closely with the designers’ heirs to ensure the design and quality of the furniture.

The Luella Mirror is handcrafted by experienced basket weavers from sustainable Indonesian rattan. Rattan is extremely flexible and can be shaped by hand after steaming—using old, traditional manufacturing techniques and a few simple tools. Rattan is the most sustainable material for furniture production, as it regenerates within 5 to 7 years. There are 600 different varieties of rattan, and at Sika-Design, we use only the two highest-quality types, known as Tohiti and Manau.
