Bodil Kjær is an exceptional phenomenon. One of the last living pioneers of Scandinavian mid-century design and, in her day, one of the few women to go her own way in architecture. Uncompromising, forward-looking, unmistakable.
In 1961, she designed the Principal Series as part of a larger architectural exploration of modern living solutions - Elements of Architecture. A dining table and an upholstered dining chair that together speak the same language: clear, cosmopolitan, timeless.
The solid wooden table lives from its consistency. The same simple angle is repeated in the table legs and the ends of the table top - a quiet geometry that is immediately convincing. No gimmicks, no distractions. Just form in its purest form.
