The Allstar chair defies common categorizations: Is it an office chair or a home office chair? What period does it date from? Does it have functions? What is it made of? Konstantin Grcic designed 'Allstar' with this open formulation in order to offer homeliness and familiarity to people who work in offices.
The shape of 'Allstar' is emblematic and sympathetic. The chair looks as if it has always existed, which conveys confidence and security. It radiates coziness and comfort and thus sets a sign of deceleration and calming in the speed and dynamics of the office.
At the same time, 'Allstar' hides the functions necessary for an office chair: a synchronous mechanism, seat depth and height adjustment, locking mechanism and adjustable backrest. A curved, strongly dimensioned plastic bracket is the backrest, armrest and extended arm of the mechanism at the same time. It enables separate movement of the seat shell and backrest and translates the forces into the mechanism under the seat.
The organically shaped seat and back cushions, together with the functions, provide a high level of comfort. This means that 'Allstar' can be used wherever functional performance is required but a classic office chair should not be used for aesthetic reasons - in modern workplace concepts or co-working spaces as well as in the home office.
