When I look at the folding chair April I think of the chairs on film sets. That's exactly how 'April' looks like. The only difference: this folding chair is made of a steel frame and a seat and backrest made of nappa leather. Not even the biggest star director sits so elegantly!
One of Aurelio Zanotta's greatest abilities was to be surrounded by the most important Italian designers and to create a catalogue of offers that corresponded to his personal vision, a precise idea of clever and functional objects and a philosophy entirely focused on 'Zanotta'.
Thus, many designers put their sensitivity and taste at the disposal of Aurelio to transform some of the types of objects that Aurelio himself was determined to reinvent. This is what Gae Aulenti did with 'April', starting from the eternal classic, the director's chair.
