The VL Ring Crown series traces its origins to a light fixture designed by architect Vilhelm Lauritzen in the 1940s for the Danish Broadcasting House in Copenhagen. The wall and pendant lights, with their distinctive organic shape, were installed in the Danish Broadcasting House. For this project, Vilhelm Lauritzen also designed the VL38 and VL45 lamps. Although the original VL Ring Crown was never actually installed there, a Ring Crown based on the original drawings was launched on the market shortly thereafter. In 1947, designer Finn Juhl, who worked for Vilhelm Lauritzen, incorporated the VL Ring Crown into the interior design for the Danish porcelain manufacturer Bing & Grøndahl in Copenhagen. True to the original materials and design, the VL Ring Crown was reissued in 2019. It is made of untreated, polished brass and features three, five, or seven shades of glossy white, three-layered, hand-blown opal glass. It was complemented by the wall sconces and pendant lights that were originally installed in the Danish Broadcasting House. The VL Ring Crown family lends stylish interiors a distinctive and authentic touch and casts a warm light that gently illuminates modern living spaces.
