Poul Henningsen designed hundreds of lamps based on the PH System, which he developed in 1926 and which provided unparalleled light quality for a wide range of applications. A year later, Louis Poulsen, in collaboration with Henningsen, launched the PH 3/2 model. Many of Poul Henningsen’s lamp designs are labeled with a number that corresponds to the different shade sizes of the respective lamp. The PH 3/2 is a hybrid-sized lamp with an upper shade measuring approximately 30 centimeters, combined with the proportionally smaller lower shades of the PH 2/2. The PH 3/2 was designed to provide optimal lighting and create a warm atmosphere, serving as an island of light on a table, a dresser, or a windowsill. It helped set new standards for the effectiveness of lighting provided by table lamps.
