Lighting classics 'Cobra'

The authentic table lamp Cobra is one of the most iconic designs by Greta M. Grossman. Originally designed in the 1950s, the table lamp takes its name from the shape of the oval shade, which resembles the neck of a cobra.

Greta Magnusson Grossman looks back on a successful career spanning forty years on two continents: Europe and North America and acted as a mover and shaker in the male-dominated world of mid-century modern design. Her achievements were numerous and included industrial design, interior design and architecture.

Because of her groundbreaking design, the Cobra table lamp won the Good Design Award in the same decade and was subsequently exhibited at the Good Design Show at the Museum of Modern Art in New York.

The Cobra table lamp is a classic yet unique luminaire that can be bent in all directions with its tubular flexible arm, allowing the shade to be rotated through 360º. This creates a variety of lighting options for the work table or a soft light in the living room.
