The well-known functionalist architect Vilhelm Lauritzen designed the VL 56 pendant light for Folkets Hus in the Vesterbro district of Copenhagen. Originally designed and constructed for the Danish labor movement, the building was opened in 1956 and is now used as a concert hall under the name Vega. The building is a total work of art, which means that Lauritzen designed everything in the building, from doorknobs, staircases and sockets to furniture and lights. The VL 56 pendant luminaire is one of the luminaires that Vilhelm Lauritzen designed for Vega and still hangs above the wood-paneled bar adjacent to the concert hall. The chrome and brass versions were reintroduced in 2023 with slight adjustments and improvements.
