PH Artichoke Pendant Light by Louis Poulsen -10 %

72 metal blades form 12 precise rows, each with six blades, to ensure flawless, glare-free light, no matter from which angle you view this remarkable pendant light. The name refers to its distinctive design, which diffuses light both inward and outward, creating wonderfully pleasant lighting. When he was commissioned in 1958 to design a pendant lamp for the ultra-modern Langelinie Pavilion restaurant in Copenhagen, Poul Henningsen needed only three months to complete the PH Artichoke. The foundation for this design had already been laid between 1927 and 1931, when he developed the “PH Septima Glass Light,” featuring clear glass shades alternating with sandblasted sections. The “PH Artichoke” was based on this Septima concept. Even today, visitors can admire the PH Artichoke—now considered a true design icon—at the Langelinie Pavilion in the Danish capital.

The pendant light illuminates any room with 100% glare-free light thanks to its 72 blades, which form 12 precisely arranged rows, each with six blades. The fixture ensures that light is emitted both inward and outward, creating a beautiful and pleasant glow. Furthermore, the high light quality is maintained even in the energy-efficient LED version, which creates the same familiar atmosphere around the pendant light.
