The PH 3 ½-3 glass pendant luminaire is one of many progressive projects developed by Poul Hennigsen in connection with the design of his world-famous three-shade system from 1926. Poul Henningsen dedicated a large part of his life to the taming of electric light. His three-shade design is based on a Lituus curve, which allows the light source to be used optimally. During his work, he constantly carried out calculations and tests. The shape of the shades was determined by how they had to shape and reflect the light. When designing the luminaire itself, he made sure that it was glare-free. The shade made of white opal glass gives the luminaire a soft overall appearance and illuminates the surroundings with a perfectly harmonious and glare-free light that only the classic three-shade system can emit. The hand-blown, three-layer opal glass is glossy on top and sandblasted matt on the bottom, ensuring particularly soft and even light distribution.
