Enigma Pendant Light by Louis Polsen -20 %

The Enigma series was designed by Japanese designer Shoichi Uchiyama for Louis Poulsen and includes the Enigma models. Launched in 2003, the Enigma was the first step toward reinterpreting the traditional chandelier concept. This fixture consists of thin layers of concentric circles and floating shades held in place by wires, creating a transparent and light appearance. The name “Enigma” means “mystery” and refers to the floating shades, which appear to hover when viewed from a distance. Additional models were later introduced as an extension of the series. These models are based on the same design concept of floating shades suspended by wires, thus preserving the light and transparent look. The design of all the lamps is in harmony with Louis Poulsen’s product philosophy, which combines Japanese elegance with Scandinavian simplicity. Later, the original version of the lights was supplemented by a new variant. This addition expands the design’s creative possibilities and forms, casting a calm, atmospheric light.
