Originally introduced in the 1950s. Designed in close cooperation between the Danish Navy's building administration and Louis Poulsen. The pendant luminaire was used for many years in the Navy's buildings in many different areas such as canteens and offices. The Navy pendant luminaire, as it was called at the time, was particularly popular due to its unique lighting properties and usability. The product could be found in Louis Poulsen catalogs until the early 1980s. The design appears timeless, but has a strong connection to the New Look of the 1950s. In 2012, the lamp was relaunched under the name Doo-Wop with new colors and in a brass version. In 2017, new metal versions in copper and stainless steel were added. The manufacturing process has remained unchanged. The shades are still drawn by hand and still have the finely rolled edge at the end, which gives the shades a special volume. The brass version in particular is a challenge for the craftsmen, as it is drawn from a solid brass plate and has a shiny surface at the end.
