This table lamp emits a soft, harmonious, and pleasant light that is directed primarily downward. Poul Henningsen used his celebrated three-shade system as the basis for this lamp. He designed this system in 1925 with the goal of giving form to attractive, glare-free light. The first lamp to utilize this three-shade system was created in collaboration with Louis Poulsen for the World’s Fair in Paris that same year. The so-called “Paris Lamp” was awarded a gold medal. Henningsen pursued a distinctly scientific approach to lighting and developed further designs based on this system. With the three-shade system based on the Lituus curve, he achieved uniform light distribution. In addition, the light is diffused, which counteracts glare and shadow formation.
