Armchair Plywood in wood

An icon, a cult piece of furniture and an absolute design classic. The 'Plywood Group' is another series of chairs and armchairs that has become an integral part of furniture history, created by the famous Charles & Ray Eames.

In many years of experiments Charles and Ray looked for new methods to adapt three-dimensionally shaped plywood to the shapes of the human anatomy in the best possible way. The successful result can be seen in the 'Plywood Group', which is still contemporary today and has allowed the designs to mature into classics.

The compact armchairs offer good sitting comfort thanks to their pleasantly shaped laminated wood shells and the slightly flexible backrest. And this also applies to the models without seat upholstery.

To be honest, I have to admit that normally I'm not particularly fond of cowhide, but with the plywood armchair it somehow harmonises wonderfully with the organically shaped wood. The leg construction is also fascinating like no other.

Here you will find the full range of options of the plywood armchair with wooden legs. But the metal counterpart is still to be found in my shop.
