Some titles you don't just say. "The most beautiful desk in the world" is one of them. And when modernists such as Marcel Breuer, José Luis Sert and Paul Rudolph covet it, there is more to it than mere enthusiasm.
Bodil Kjær designed the Office Desk in 1959 and it has not aged a bit to this day. Slim steel legs, a generous, free-standing work surface, an almost architectural transparency. The desk takes up space without dominating. It is there and yet leaves space.
The lines are so clear, so pure that it is hard to believe how much skill is behind them. This is Danish modern design at its best: taking nothing away, adding nothing. Simply perfect.
And if you need any more convincing: the Office Desk was Hollywood's choice. It can be seen in three James Bond films - "Love Greetings from Moscow" (1963), "You Only Live Twice" (1967) and "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" (1969). Even 007 knows where he sits.
