In the 1960s, Warren Platner saw an opportunity. "I felt there was room for a kind of decorative, gentle, graceful design like you find in the Louis XV style, but which could have a more rational basis rather than just being superimposed decoration," he said. By welding hundreds of bent steel rods to circular frames, Platner achieved his goal: to create a form that is both structure and ornament.
