I would love to sit on the 'Polder' sofa from the label Vitra right now. Consisting of different fabric-color combinations and an asymmetrical structure, the comfortable sofa has a distinctive shape and impresses me with the loving details. Designed by Dutch designer Hella Jongerius, 'Polder' has its origins in Holland. There 'polder' are namely those flat and agriculturally used areas that are reclaimed from the sea by means of dikes and drainage ditches. Equally low-lying and emphasizing the horizontal, the Polder Sofa presents itself with its idiosyncratic, asymmetrical frame shape and the sensitive combination of colors, materials and textures.
Polder's upholstered cushions and body are covered in a variety of fabrics in carefully coordinated hues. The four color combinations - The Sea Greens, The Pebble Greys, The Earth Reds and The Antarctic Blues - consist of muted, earthy hues and can be restrainedly integrated into rooms of a wide range of styles. The eye-catching knobs made of natural materials with colored pins are a sympathetic contrasting addition.
In the case of the Polder sofa, the body forms a lower armrest on one side than on the other, so both models can be defined as left- or right-facing to adapt to different room situations.
