PH 2/1 table lamp from Louis Poulsen -20 %

The table lamp provides a soft, harmonious, and pleasant distribution of light that directs the light primarily downward. Poul Henningsen designed it based on his famous three-shade system, which he had developed in 1925 to achieve excellent, glare-free lighting. The first lamp featuring this multi-shade system was created in collaboration with Louis Poulsen for the Paris Exhibition that same year. The “Paris Lamp” won the gold medal. Henningsen took a distinctly scientific approach to light and went on to design numerous lamps based on the same system. He used the logarithmic spiral as a basis and, with the three-shade system, achieved uniform light distribution, which, together with diffuse reflection, made it possible to reduce glare and shadows. Each PH lamp number refers to the proportions of its shades.
