CH07 Shell Chair in soft colors Carl Hansen & Søn

Carl Hansen & Søn CH07 Shell Chair The CH07 Shell Chair was designed in 1963, but the design was far ahead of its time, and so the chair has had to wait patiently for decades for its appearance in the limelight. Today, the chair is considered one of Hans J. Wegner's most legendary and groundbreaking designs. The timeless icon of modern Danish design When Hans J. Wegner presented the design of the CH07 Shell Chair in 1963, many critics were enthusiastic about the chair's avant-garde look. The general public, on the other hand, was reluctant to accept its unmistakable expression. Mixed reviews in the 1960s, together with the less sophisticated production techniques of the time, meant that the Shell Chair was only produced in a very limited edition. When Carl Hansen & Søn reintroduced the Shell Chair in 1998, it almost immediately attracted widespread public attention due to the interest of a new generation. The floating lightness of the design is achieved by the wing-like seat and the curved backrest, which is supported by a frame with three curved legs. The chair's characteristic seat and backrest are made of upholstered, compression-molded veneer that hugs the user and provides generous comfort. The chair's laminated legs consist of several layers of veneer. The two front legs are made from a single element, creating a unique and stable shape. The Shell Chair is a clear manifestation of Wegner's belief that a chair should always be comfortable, have no back and be beautiful to look at from all sides and angles. Designer Hans J. Wegner Hans J. Wegner is considered one of the most creative, innovative and productive Danish furniture designers. Wegner is often referred to as the "master of chairs" - and he created almost 500 chairs in his lifetime, many of which are considered masterpieces. He is probably best known for his iconic Wishbone Chair, which has been in continuous production since 1950. The core of Wegner's legacy is his desire to bring the inner qualities - the soul - of furniture to the outside, where its simplicity and functionality can be appreciated.
