Iconic rocking chair 'CH45 Rocking Chair

For over 100 years, Carl Hansen & Søn has stood for Danish design history. It is still about a proud tradition of distinctive and beautiful craftsmanship. As the world's largest manufacturer of furniture designed by Hans J. Wegner, the traditional Danish company also produces works by renowned design masters such as Arne Jacobsen and many more.

With around 500 designs to his name, designer Hans J. Wegener was dubbed the 'Master of the Chair'. He was particularly fascinated by the rocking chair and also designed the 'CH45' with a meticulous approach. The rocking chair, which was designed back in the 1960s, is part of a larger series that Wegner designed for Carl Hansen & Søn. This includes the CH44 Lounge Chair, the CH46 and CH47 Dining Chairs and the CH53 Stool, which are still in production today.

This modern chair has the elegance of Nordic simplicity and I particularly like its reclined backrest and the seat with its high-quality woven paper cord. The latter can also be found in other designs in the series. The perfectly proportioned rocking chair has a dynamic expression for relaxed sitting, rocking and standing up.
