Many good things come from a personal need and a lot of love. This is also the story of Ethnicraft. Philippe Delaisse fell in love with furniture and home accessories during a trip to Indonesia and not only wanted to beautify his own home, but also share this love with others. So he took a few pieces home to Antwerp, where the selected pieces generated so much enthusiasm that he soon had to bring more with his friend Benoit Loos.

A year later, customers were already queuing up at the dock in Antwerp with a numbered ticket in their hand to buy the one special piece they wanted. The Herzblut makers quickly decided to design and produce their own furniture and set up their first production facility in Indonesia.
Today, excellent craftsmanship is at the heart of the label and the simple, beautiful pieces are a great addition to a sustainably beautiful interior.

At this year's Antwerp Design Week, the furniture and accessories from the makers and their now large team also attracted a great deal of interest. It was great to see how the exceptional talents behind the brand and their now large team manage to inspire interior enthusiasts with their love for handcrafted, high-quality furniture with that certain something. And their love of solid wood, of course.

Trend: O A K - Möbel aus Eiche Trend: O A K - Möbel aus Eiche
Trend: O A K - Möbel aus Eiche

The whole interior world is talking about it: furniture made from new woods. The focus here is on oak. I was also able to observe this trend at the 3 Days of Design. Wherever you look, you'll find furniture made of handcrafted oak - in different variations. The fine wood is particularly beautiful in its natural state, but dark soaped or oiled versions are also a great eye-catcher in your home. And they also look wonderful when combined with each other. And the best thing about it: oak is particularly robust and very resistant to external influences.

Trend: O A K - Eichenholz

Trend: Sculptural elegance

At the moment, I'm particularly taken with furniture that is more than just a utilitarian object. With their new, organic shapes, they bring a sculptural elegance to my home that only a painting or other work of art can. The Belgian label Ethnicraft is an expert in working with renowned designers to reinvent their furniture and design it in such a way that it radiates a gentle, timeless calm - and at the same time** looks like a modern work of art**. The inspiration for this is usually found in nature. Furniture has a very special meaning for the founders.

Trend: Skulpturale Eleganz

The mix makes the music The mix makes the music
The mix makes the music

My tip on how best to use the great furniture made of solid wood, oak and teak? The M I X makes the music! I like it best when an interior or living space is not kept strictly in one type of wood, but when these are cleverly combined and accentuated. And when dark teak or natural-colored oak meets light concrete. Does that take courage? Yes, but it's worth it and simply looks really new and modern.

New elegance for outdoors

The era of plastic chairs for the balcony or the terrace of a trendy restaurant is definitely over. The trend is clearly moving towards comfortable outdoor furniture and Ethnicraft has recognized this. The solid and very robust and weather-resistant wooden outdoor furniture looks as elegant as if it had just been borrowed from the living room for a short time, only to find its place there again later. And the best thing about it? That's also possible! My personal favorite is the Bok chair in certified teak in natural or black lacquered, which is simply magnificently elegant and ennobles my terrace just as much as my living room.

Trend: New ways of working Trend: New ways of working
Trend: New ways of working

The trend at work is clearly moving towards mobility, ergonomics and comfort. Mobile, compact and homely furniture with style - and without office clutter. Tables that can be adjusted in height, meeting desks that make a statement, chairs with charm and generally a new mix of materials and high-quality woods.

Trend: Neues Arbeiten

Such beautiful chairs! Such beautiful chairs!
Such beautiful chairs!

The fact is, with all its furniture creations and accessories, the Ethnicraft label brings a whole lot of craftsmanship, style and novelty into our home, office or a great project. But my absolute highlight of the Belgians are the chairs that simply inspire me with their artisanal allure, their craftsmanship and their presence with good comfort.
Take a seat and be inspired,
your Mooris.
