Poul Henningsen sought to use conventional incandescent bulbs as a light source to create glare-free, direct light where it was most needed, while at the same time producing soft shadows. Henningsen’s mathematical approach to lighting, utilizing the logarithmic spiral, led to the development of the PH system in 1926, which over the years came to include hundreds of different models, ranging from floor lamps and table lamps to pendant lamps, chandeliers, and wall sconces.The PH 1/1 Portable lamp is a cordless version of the classic table lamp.
