72 blades are arranged in 12 precise rows of six blades each to ensure flawless, glare-free light, no matter from which angle you view this remarkable pendant light. The name refers to its distinctive design, which distributes light both inward and outward, creating a wonderfully pleasant lighting atmosphere. When he was commissioned in 1958 to design a pendant lamp for the ultra-modern Langelinie Pavilion restaurant in Copenhagen, Poul Henningsen needed only three months to complete the PH Artichoke. The foundation for this had already been laid around 1927–31, when he developed the PH Septima Light. The PH Artichoke was based on the Septima concept. Even today, visitors can admire the PH Artichoke—now considered a true design icon—at the Langelinie Pavilion in the Danish capital.
