Ventus Side Basket by Sika-Design

Ventus is a decorative basket with soft, organic shapes that is perfect for dried or artificial flowers. The basket is handwoven from natural rattan, so slight variations in color and shape may occur.

This item is handmade from rattan, a climbing plant that grows like vines on trees in the Indonesian rainforest. Rattan is often confused with bamboo, but unlike hollow bamboo, rattan is a solid material. This makes rattan products very durable and virtually indestructible.

When rattan is steamed for 10–15 minutes, it can be shaped by hand using old traditional crafting techniques and just a few simple tools. There are 600 different varieties of rattan, and at Sika-Design, we use exclusively the two highest-quality varieties, known as Tohiti and Manau.
